P4GA: Persona 4 the Golden Animation announced [video]

It has recently been announced that Atlus RPG, Persona 4 Golden will be receiving its own anime adaptation and it will be a retelling of the first anime series‘ events, only this time, it will involve a new character named Marie. The new anime is scheduled to air this July as part of the 2014 summer anime season and it will be titled Persona 4 the Golden Animation.

It was announced in Japanese streaming website Niconico’s Dark Hour TV ~Persona Hour~ program.  Here is the announcement trailer:

The Niconico program also announced the cast and staff for the upcoming anime. Voice actors Daisuke Namikawa (who voices Yuu Narukami) and Tomukazu Seki (who voices Kanji Tatsumi) who were the ones who made the announcements are definitely resuming their respective roles while new character Marie will be voiced by none other than Kana Hanazawa who not only voiced her in the games, but also voiced Nagi no Asukara’s Manaka, OreImo’s Kuroneko, and IS: Infinite Stratos’s Charlotte Dunois.

The original cast will reprise their roles. Showtaro Morikubo will return as Yosuke Hanamura, Yui Horie will return as Chie Satonaka, Ami Koshimizu will return as Yukiko Amagi, Rie Kugimiya will return as Rise Kujikawa, Kappei Yamaguchi will return as Teddy, Romi Park will return as Naoto Shirogane, Unshou Ishizuka will return as Ryoutarou Doujima ,Akemi Kanda will return as Nanako Dōjima, Mitsuaki Madono will return as Tooru Adachi, Isamu Tanonaka will be having a special performance as Igor and Sayaka Ohara will return as Margaret.

The anime’s chief director will be Seiji Kishi who is known for directing Arpeggio of Blue Steel and Angel Beats!. He also served as episode director for the original 2012 anime’s pilot episode. The animation meanwhile will be produced by A-1 pictures.
