Between a talk show segment and a new television spot, Madoka Magica Rebellion Story has plenty of new footage to show fans, and Madoka’s voice actress even took to the airwaves to talk about some of it.
After the first glimpse of October’s final installment in the Madoka Magica movie series made fans worry about the fate of Homura, the latest glimpses of the movie are just as worrying. Aoi Yuuki, Madoka’s voice actress, took to the airwaves to help promote the movie on an early morning talk show and gave some glimpses of Homura and Mami duking it out, Nagisa Momoe making her first animated appearance and another new character being introduced.
The newest character to join the franchise is the cuddly Nightmare. It’s not actually a witch, but a doll that will cause some mischief for the magical girls. Its sequences are shot using stop-motion animation and not much is known about its full role in the plot.
A TV spot for the movie came out shortly after the talk show segment and rehashes much of the same footage, but adds in a very distressful ending of someone treating Madoka’s soul gem like Mami’s head, causing it to shatter.
The movie premieres October 26 in Japan, and should prove to hit fans right where the original television anime did: in the heart.
