Planning an anime takes a lot of effort and hard work from the part of the animators and storyboards are an important part in that planning.
These somewhat rough sketches were developed by none other than Walt Disney Studios for pre-visualizing a scene not just in animation but in movies as well. Now, some of these storyboards are found auctioned off online via Yahoo! auctions.
Storyboards from various anime were posted online by user arcadiaparade. The starting bid for these storyboards vary from 2,000 yen to 4,000 yen and most of the items contain more than a hundred sheets worth of anime storyboard material. These sheets seem to have come from various anime studios like J.C. Staff and Shaft as each sheet comes with the animation studio’s logo.
Storyboards were not the only sheets arcadiaparade put up for auction as he is also auctioning off some character design sheets which also come from various anime studios.
All of the sheets auctioned off came from ongoing anime like Hyperdimension Neptunia, High School DXD New, Danganronpa, Ro-Kyu-Bu SS, A Certain Scientific Railgun S and Kiniro Mosaic. The user also posted some sheets which came from already concluded anime like Kotoura-San, Tari-tari, Nisemonogatari, Nekomonogatari (Kuro), Minami-Ke, To Love-Ru Darkness, K-On!! and more.
