The 2014 winter anime season is almost starting and anime fans are already excited for the new year’s first batch of new anime.
The Ure Pia research institute has recently asked self-proclaimed anime otaku which of the upcoming anime they are most excited about. Here are their picks:
Space Dandy
The anime is from director Shinichiro Watanabe who has given to the world one unforgettable classic in Cowboy Bebop. The anime follows the adventures (and misadventures) of an alien hunter named Dandy who will scour the universe for aliens along with his robot assistant QT and an alien cat named Meow.
Wizard Barristers: Benmashi Cecil
In a world where normal humans and magicians live together in peaceful coexistence, there will surely be some trouble. Magicians cannot be judged by normal human laws, however, they can be stopped by ”Benmashi” or wizard barristers. Enter 17-year-old Cecil Sudo, the youngest Benmashi in history.
Pupa
This horror anime is quite graphic and definitely not for the weak of heart. It involves lots of blood and humans being eaten alive and is guaranteed to bring in some chills for the winter season.
Hamatora
This suspense-based mystery anime follows the “Minimum Holders” Nice and Murasaki who open up a detective agency called Hamatora. ”Minimum Holders” are people who possess super human abilities and they are getting killed one by one by a serial killer. The two are then called upon by the police to help solve these murders.
Super Sonico the Animation
Nitroplus’s mascot character finally gets her own anime and focuses on Sonico and her band mates Suzu and Fuuri.
D-Fragments!
This new gag anime offers slapstick humor expected of many high school comedies. It follows self-proclaimed delinquent Kenji Kazama who runs into trouble with some pretty unusual girls whose odd behaviors make his delinquency look like child’s play.
Mikakunin de Shinkoukei
The series follows Kobeni Yonomi who finds herself betrothed to Hakuya Mitsumine on her 16th birthday. Hakuya then moves in with her and her family along with his little sister Mashiro and comedy will surely ensue.
Wake Up, Girls!
This idol anime follows a group of young girls who want to be idols. They are managed by a tiny production company, Green Leaves Entertainment who are on the verge of ruin because the talents they managed have all quit.
Silver Spoon 2
The lovable anime about farming is back and offers new characters and new farming adventures for Yugo Hachiken who is still struggling to cope with his new life.
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! season 2
The Evil Eye, Dark Flame Master, Forest Summer and the rest of the Chuunibyou gang are finally back for a new season and naturally, fans will be excited for their return. The anime will still offer a whole lot of the comedy and drama fans have experienced in season 1 along with a few new additions including new character Satone Shichimiya who will surely spell trouble for everyone.
The Winter season surely has a lot of juicy new series which will surely make anime fans want more. With this year’s very first anime season, hopefully we may have a new hit which everybody will be talking about.
