Comptiq magazine has recently asked its readers who is their favorite Kantai Collection character and the results are finally out. The scans however only show the top 6 girls and did not show how the others fared in the magazine’s poll.
Here are the six most popular KanColle battleship girls according Comptiq’s poll:
Kongou
Haruna
Kitakami
Kaga
Zuikaku
Shoukaku
The poll’s results come as a bit of a surprise to some as it did not include some of the most well known Kantai Collection girls like Shimakaze, Yamato, Takao and Akagi. The results however show that the other girls are getting the spotlight even if girls like Shimakaze and Akagi are considered the face of the franchise
Saying that the Japanese online browser featuring anthropomorphic battleship girls is popular may be a bit of an understatement. The game has generated so much fanfare that major events like Comiket 85 have been dominated by Kantai Collection products and cosplayers. The new Shimakaze figma even sold out in many online shops on day one… and those are just the pre-orders.
The online game will also be having an anime adaptation which is scheduled to air later in 2014. The new anime will be directed by Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha director Keizou Kusakawa and the animation will be produced by Diomedia which is responsible for anime like Squid Girl and Silver Fox.
