Tekken is one of the most popular fighting game series in the world and the series will be getting yet another Hollywood live action movie and it will star Ninja Sentai Kakuranger’s Kane Kosugi who appeared as Ryu Hayabusa in the live action DOA: Dead or Alive movie.
The Japanese-American international action star announced in his blog that he will star in the new Tekken movie titled “Tekken: A Man Called X” where he will play the lead role of X. Who this X really is is still shrouded in mystery however.
It will be a prequel to the 2010 Hollywood movie which starred Jon Foo as Jin Kazama, Ian Anthony Dale as Kazuya Mishima and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Heihachi. The movie was quite unpopular and Tekken creator Katsuo Harada even criticized the film saying ”That Hollywood movie is terrible. We were not able to supervise that movie; it was a cruel contract. I’m not interested in that movie.”
The movie will be produced by Lion’s Gate Films and Crystal Sky Pictures. It will be directed by Ong Bak director Prachya Pinkaew.
