Freedom Wars, SCE Japan Studio’s forthcoming “recapture” multiplayer action game for the PS Vita, now has a firm release date, Famitsu reports.
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia (SCEJA) announced today that the game will launch in Japan on June 26.
Although no launch date was given for Asian territories outside of Japan, since it was previously announced that the game will launch simultaneously in Japan and Asia, gamers in the region can also expect the title to launch in their country on that day.
Apart from the release date, the Famitsu story also contained some information with regards to Freedom Wars’s post-launch content update.
At launch, the story mode, “Free Volunteer” missions (these are optional side missions that you can take on, outside of the core campaign), a 4-player ad-hoc co-op play, and a regional country-versus-country mode will be accessible in the game.
Thereafter, the first content update patch for the game — which has not yet been dated — will add more Volunteer missions, infrastructure online mode, 8-player co-op play, and a PvP mode.
A second content update patch will also add an “Ideology Battle” mode.
At the moment, we do not have any idea what this Ideology Battle actually is. However, Famitsu teased that more details on Freedom Wars are available in a magazine feature coming in this week’s issue of its print weekly, which goes on sale on newsstands in Japan March 20 (this Thursday).
