Plenty of anime have been getting live action stage lately like K, Steins; Gate, Sailor Moon and Death Note. Now, it’s super robot anime Gurren Lagann‘s turn to take center stage as it has just been announced that they will also be having a stage play.
The announcement was made by the upcoming stage play’s new twitter page. It also announced that a teaser site for the stage play has also been opened along with a new official facebook page.
The stage play will be done in full cooperation with Gurren Lagann’s anime studio, Gainax and will be produced by Office Endless which is known for the Sengoku Basara stage musicals. It will be held inside the Shinjuku Space Zero for five days from October 22-26, 2014. Auditions for the roles are still ongoing.
Gurren Lagann is one of Gainax’s most popular anime series and it is known for over the top characters like Kamina and Yoko, awesome action sequences, and of course, gigantic super robots who are so large they make entire galaxies look like dinner plates. This over the top anime is often considered as the spiritual predecessor to Kill la Kill as both series are directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by Kazuki Nakashima.
