A look at 5 of the most awesome dads in anime

Today is June 15, 2014, in other words, Father’s Day, a day when countries all over the world celebrates dads everywhere. To celebrate this special day dedicated to dads, we here at SGCafe are taking a look at five of the most awesome anime dads out there. We have greatly debated at who to talk about and have come up with these five dads who are definitely awesome. Here they are and not in order:

The 4th Hokage, Minato Namikaze from Naruto

Your dad is a Hokage, how awesome is that? Well, Naruto can certainly boast about it. As a father, he will do everything for both his family and his village, even sacrificing his own life, and he did just that. Is there any more reason why “The Yellow Flash” shouldn’t be considered as one of the most awesome anime dads of all time?

Tatsuo Kusakabe from My Neighbor Totoro

Like the ideal father, he is hardworking and loving of his children and wife. He is an awesome dad because despite being busy with his work as a university professor and as an archaeologist, he still finds time to play along with his two daughters and even encourages their wild imaginations. This is something some dads aren’t able to do these days anymore as they would often be busy with work or other things.

Konata’s father

This single father may appear frail and sickly at times, but when it comes to supporting his daughter, he becomes surprisingly healthy. Like Tatsuo, he also plays with his daughter and he also encourages Konata’s otaku tendencies, in fact, he is an otaku himself! He says he will never allow Konata to get a boy friend as long as he lives (like many dads out there) but he did not say anything about her getting a girlfriend…

Don’t let this proud father get a chance to talk about his cute daughter or you’ll regret it! He. Will. Not. Stop. Let’s just say Hughes just loves doting on his daughter to the point that he becomes a nuisance to others. But what makes Hughes so wesome as a dad is his dedication to that role and like Minato, he is willing to sacrifice his life for his family, which he unfortunately does. What a hero dad!

Yuuta Segawa from Listen Girls, I am your Father!

Sora, Miu and Hina’s adoptive father

At age 19, this college student becomes a dad for three girls who are actually his sister’s actual daughter and two adoptive daughters due to circumstances. Despite being a student, he tries his best to earn a living for his three “daughters” by doing various odd jobs. What makes him awesome is that even if life’s hardships hit him, he will always find a way for the girls to live. Be it strict landladies, “concerned” relatives or perverted classmates, he will face them all just for the girls.
