Miku is setting her sights on the future of 3D printing, and a new contest is challenging fans to share their creations on the social site Delmo.
If your first thought when you saw a 3D printer in action was “oh boy, unlimited figures” you aren’t the only one. In fact, social site Delmo takes advantage of that and allows users to share 3D model data to so they can print figures in the comfort of their own homes. The site is hosting a new contest, though, that finds Hatsune Miku and the other Crypton Vocaloids jumping into the mix.
Delmo is encouraging fans to upload their model data to the site where it has the chance to be printed by the Delmo printer, and others can comment on how awesome (or not so awesome) it is. Take the latest figure being printed: Sessionator-Miku by Darukukusuberu.
Two lucky winners will find themselves 10,000 yen richer. One for the best Hatsune Miku themed entry and one for the best Crypton Vocaloid entry. The second place prize awards four people 1000 yen, two for the best Miku, and two for the best Crypton theme.
As a bonus the winning works will be featured at this years Magical Mirai in Osaka and in the Monthly Hobby Japan magazine.
The contest will be running until August 15, so hone your 3D modeling skills before then if you want to enter.
