In 1954, Toho Studios created a monster which defied an entire genre and forever changed the entire worldwide movie industry. The monster was named Gojira, or in other countries, Godzilla, King of the Monsters. And with 2014 being the king’s 60th anniversary, DeAgostini has made solid gold statues of Godzilla and his three-headed arch nemesis, King Ghidorah.
Priced at a mere 6,000,000 yen (around USD 59,200) tax excluded, these figures boast high-detailed sculpts of the two iconic kaijus. DeAgostini has indeed put these solid gold figures up for sale in their official website and they have only made six (6) sets of them, each set containing both Godzilla and King Ghidora preparing to battle one another in a diorama set in the wilds of Hokkaido.
These golden monsters are made by Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry which also made the solid gold Sagittarius Gold Cloth figure with supervision from renowned sculptor Akira Ibaraki and Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah director Koichi Kawakita. These 6,000,000 yen figures are now available for orders via the deAgostini official website.
The “Big G” is truly celebrating his 60th anniversary in style huh? And making these figures out of solid gold is truly fitting for the mighty “King of the Monsters”. Part of the 60th anniversary celebrations included the 2014 Hollywood movie which not only smashed cities, but the worldwide box office as well.
