And there you have it, an overwhelming victory by The Irregulat at Magic High School, which almost had a 200,000 copies sold lead over the highly-favored Sword Art Online. The series was already famous in Japan even before the anime adaptation, and it seems like the anime only made its popularity grow even further.

#2 ranked Sword Art Online however maintained its popularity with the anime’s second season and was one of only three titles being able to break the 1 million mark for copies sold, along with Kagerou Days, which had a successful but disappointing anime.

Monogatari and Oregairu meanwhile maintained their popularity in 2014 as well. Oregairu, which experienced a lot of critical success this year showed why it is one of the best LN series out there by placing 5th while Monogatari, which just ended this year capped the series off at 4th place. Other big names also made it to the top 10 like A Certain Magical Index: New Testament, Log Horizon, and No game, No Life.
