Silent Hills officially cancelled by Konami, Norman Reedus speaks

After all the hype and excitement, the upcoming collaboration game between Konami and Hollywood director, Guillermo del Toro, which is Silent Hills, has officially been cancelled by Konami itself.

Silent Hills, which also features actor Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead fame, was one of the most hyped up games Konami has introduced last year, but with the gaming company’s recent restructuring and Kojima leaving Konami after Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the game’s future was in question, and with the cancellation now officially confirmed, it seems that the Silent Hills hype train has come to a screeching stop leaving a lot of fans severely disappointed.

Norman Reedus has also spoken about the matter and tweeted in his personal twitter page, @wwwbigbaldhead, how disappointed he is.

“Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it’ll come back around. Sorry everyone”

Konami meanwhile released a statement about the matter as well.

“Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.

In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.”

So Konami will be continuing Silent Hill games, but not Silent Hills. Well, that’s still a huge bummer given that people were actually excited to see a Guillermo del Torro – Hideo Kojima project with Norman Reedus in the lead.

The Silent Hills playable teaser or P.T. will also be pulled from the PlayStation Network this April 29, so fans who want proof in the future that this project actually existed, then now’s the time to download it.
