Chika Umino’s bestselling and critically-acclaimed drama manga, March Comes in Like a Lion, is getting two much-deserved live-action movie adaptations starring Ryunosuke Kamiki as Rei Kiriyama. Now, the movie’s staff has released new still images from the film, and it features Kamiki as Rei, Kasumi Arimura as Kyouko Koda, and Hideaki Ito as Masamune Gotou.
The strained relationship between Rei and his step-sister, Kyouko, as well as his enmity towards professional Shougi player, Gotou, are one of the story lines that the film will be exploring from Chika Umino’s manga. Here are several other still images and production shots taken from the movie:
The live-action adaptation will be split into two movies, with the first part premiering in Japan on March 18, 2017, and the second part making its premiere on April 22, 2017. It will be based on Chika Umino’s multiple-award-winning manga series which follows the life and relationships of professional shougi player, Rei Kiriyama. An anime adaptation by SHAFT is currently being aired.
