At a Tokyo Game Show stage presentation today over at the Dengeki Games booth, Sega and Ascii Media Works announced Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax, a 2D fighting game that features characters from numerous Dengeki Bunko light novel franchises that’s currently in the works.
Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax is the fourth project in a series of “Dengeki Bunko vs Sega” collaborations intended to commemorate the light novel publisher’s 20th anniversary.
As this is the first time Sega and Ascii Media Works are showing off the game, not too many details were unveiled. At the moment it is unknown which platform Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax will be released for.
Characters-wise, only two characters were announced today: Sword Art Online’s Asuna, and Shana from Shakugan no Shana.
Nevertheless, these two female characters are such heavyweights in the hearts of anime fans that just the mere mention of their names is enough to stir up hype for the new game.
Like most of you, we can’t wait to find out which other Dengeki Bunko light novel characters will make it into the game’s playable roster. Since Sword Art Online’s Asuna is in, I’m guessing characters from a certain other Reki Kawahara light novel series will likely make the cut too.
