To commemorate the end of such an epic series, the anime staff has set up a very special fan participation campaign which requires 10,000 new recruits to join in and become crew of the Yamato. The campaign started last September 20 and it’s titled “Let’s make a huge Yamato artwork!”.

This fan participation campaign asks the participants to a submit a photo and that photo will become part of a huge photo mosaic featuring the legendary space battleship. Fans can submit a photo of themselves alone or with their loved ones or their pets as long as it is relevant to the anime. The end product will be published in Japanese newspapers nationwide.

A special website has already been put up for those who want to join in. The special website also offers fans the chance to cosplay as their favorite Space Battleship Yamato characters. They can print and cut-out some paper costumes that they can wear for their photo submissions. All items are in 1/1 scale so fans wanting to try them out can enjoy these Yamato character effects.
