In Japan, Christmas is treated more of a dating kind of holiday rather than a religious one, much like Valentine’s Day. For the Christmas edition of Charapedia‘s weekly anime rankings, the Japanese anime character database asked its readers which anime character would they want to date.
Japanese online shopping website, Otomart, also had their own version of this Christmas ranking, however, it was completely dominated by male characters. The Charapedia version however had a more equal gender distribution as the poll featured a 46.1% male, 53.9% female ratio from their 10,000 voters. The poll is divided into two categories, one for male and one for female. Here are the results:

Looks like the women want to date a funny man on Christmas as Gintoki takes first place in the male rankings.
