Blue Exorcist is getting its own live action stage play and the organizers have already revealed the actors playing Rin and Yukio Okimura in costume as well as Mephisto, Shiemi, Amaimon, and others. Now, new visuals from the play have revealed the their version of the sexy-yet-deadly 1st-class exorcist, Shura Kirigakure, as well as Kenzo and Jizo Shima.
Japanese gravure model, actress, and singer Yumi Sugimoto will be playing Shura. Sugimoto is not a stranger to very physical roles like Shura, who is expected to be fighting a lot in the Blue Exorcist stage play. She previously appeared as a super sentai hero in the tokusatsu tv series, Engine Sentai Go-Onger in 2008.
The new visuals also reveal the actors who will be playing Kenzo and Jizo Shima. Kenzo Shima will be played by Yojiro Murata while his elder brother, Jizo Shima will be played by Yasujiro Arakawa. Both characters were not featured in the anime but had important roles in the manga. They are the elder brothers of Renzou Shima who is portrayed by Takafumi Maeuchi in the play.
The play has been revealed to be a double feature and will be covering two different arcs which were featured in Kazue Kato’s original manga which is serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine. The first part will cover the “Awakening of the Blue Flame” arc while the second part will cover the “Kyoto Impure King” arc. The play is written by Daisuke Nishida with full cooperation with series creator Kazue Kato.
The stage play will be held at Ikebukuro’s famous Sunshine Theater from June 21-29, 2014. Normal seats cost 6,800 yen while premium seats will cost 8,800 yen.
