The hard-working denizens of hell from the comedy anime Hoozuku no Reitetsu are certainly doing their best to punish sinners and somehow need a little break from all that work. In recognition of this, the town of Noburibetsu in Hokkaido, Japan has announced that they will be teaming up with the comedy anime to celebrate their Noboribetsu Hell Festival (Jigoku Matsuri).
The town will be conducting several Hoozuku no Reitetsu events during the festival like a stamp rally, several collaboration merchandise and photo exhibition. Hoozuki no Reitetsu creator Natsumi Eguchi will also be heading to the festival to hold an autograph session.
The Noboribetsu Hell Festival will be held from August 30-31, 2014. More announcements will be made in the future.
The festival celebrates the opening of the Jigokudani (door to hell) which happens once a year. Yama, the king of hell descends into town and that is when the celebrations will begin. King Yama in the anime is main character Hoozuki’s boss and is known to be quite a lovable character and it seems that the series is truly a good fit for the festival.
