Digimon Adventure Tri. will not be a TV anime but a 6-part movie, new cast also announced

After the continuous streaming of the original Digimon Adventure anime series in Niconico, the staff of the upcoming Digimon Adventure Tri. anime has announced that there will be a new cast of voice actors to play the digidestined/ chosen children. The teaser trailer for the announcement has now been streamed:



According to the teaser trailer, the new cast voicing the original Digidestined will be:


  • Natsuki Hanae (Aldnoah.Zero’s Inaho Kaizuka) as Taichi Yagami

  • Yoshimasa Hosoya (Attack on Titan’s Reiner Braun) as Yamato Ishida

  • Suzuko Mimori (Love Live!’s Umi Sonoda) as Sora Takenouchi

  • Mutsumi Tamura (Kill me Baby’s Sonya) as Koushirou Izumi

  • Hitomi Yoshida (Katekyo Hitman Reborn!’s Haru Miura) as Mimi Tachikawa

  • Junya Ikeda (Majestic Prince’s Ataru Suruga) as Jou Kido

  • Junya Enoki (Cardfight! Vanguard G’s Shion Kiba) as Takeru Takaishi

  • MAO (Brynhildr in the Darkness’s Kazumi Schlierenzauer) as Hikari Yagami

The staff also announced that Digimon Adventure Tri. will not be a TV anime as originally planned but a 6-part movie series. The first part to this now-anime movie series will premiere in Japan on November 29, 2015 and it will be fittingly titled Saikai, which means Reunion in Japanese. The first movie’s key visual image has also been released and it features Taichi having his reunion with his partner Digimon, Agumon.
