According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Avatar‘s Laeta Kalogridis will pen the script and exec produce alongside Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross.” However, they still have not announced which US TV network will be showing this new live-action American Sword Art Online TV series.

Aside from the live-action SAO series, Skydance also plans to launch a Sword Art Online virtual reality experience through the company’s interactive arm. Meanwhile, writer Kalogridis said that “For years I have been inspired by the inventive and masterful storytelling of the SAO franchise, ’m thrilled to get the opportunity to work with such talented partners to bring this cutting-edge yet timeless story to a new format at Skydance.”
