The King of Monsters has arrived in Singapore, and Godzilla will be getting the royal movie treatment, as his latest movie, Shin Godzilla, also known as Godzilla: Resurgence in some countries, will be shown in iMax. The movie is distributed by Encore Films in Singapore, and will also be available to audiences in 2D and D-Box.
Managing Director of Encore Films Joyce Lee, said:
“We’re delighted to present SHIN GODZILLA in IMAX to our local audiences. This is the first Japanese blockbuster to be re-leased in IMAX in Singapore, and we believe that the IMAX experience definitely befits the legendary ‘King of Monsters’. Audiences will be able to immerse themselves in SHIN GODZILLA’s thrilling action with IMAX’s unparalleled image and sound quality.”
Synopsis:
An unknown source causes a catastrophic accident in the tunnels of the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, leading to irreparable damage and massive flooding. An emergency cabinet meeting is ordered to salvage the situation and discover the cause of the accident. Soon after, a gigantic creature emerges and rampages through town after town, much to everyone’s horror. How will Japan deal with this gigantic “monster” that they know nothing about?
SHIN GODZILLA will be releasing in cinemas islandwide on 25 August 2016. SHIN GODZILLA is co-distributed by Encore Films and Golden Village Pictures in Singapore. It will be the first Japanese movie to be screened in iMax here in Singapore.
What a perfect time to be a fan of Godzilla, right? Not only are we getting a live-action Godzilla movie directed by Neon Genesis Evangelion director, Hideaki Anno, but we will also be getting a Godzilla anime movie written by the one and only Gen “Urobutcher” Urobuchi, though it still has not been revealed whether the latter will also be released in Singapore.
