With the world in attendance during the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan, the staff of the upcoming Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale movie revealed that the movie will be screened worldwide across 1,000 theaters. They then showed the movie’s trailer, which featured Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Korean, and Thai subtitles.
However, they still haven’t officially announced which countries will screen the film. The World Cosplay Summit announcement confirms the movie’s gloabal screenings. Check out the English-subtitled trailer:
The movie will be screened across 150 screens in Japan alone, which makes one wonder where else will those 1,000 screens be located?
The film will feature an original story which will be set in a brand new game called “Ordinal Scale,” which uses a new augmented reality device known as “Augma.” According to the film’s official website, AR (Augmented Reality) Type Information Terminal “Augma” is a next-generation, wearable multi-device that looks like a pair of small headphones. In terms of size and portability, it is far superior to the existing VR machine “Amusphere.” Augma doesn’t have a full-dive function, however, its AR function is greatly enhanced to compensate for it. It can transmit visual, audio and tactual sensation data to players while they are awake, thus enabling the users to enjoy fitness and health management like a game.
