Part 4 of Hirohiko Araki’s Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, also known as Diamond is Unbreakable, is getting adapted into a live-action movie. Part 4 focuses on Jousuke Higashitaka, and a brand new teaser trailer, the first one for the film, has been released to introduce the actor playing him, the one and only Kento Yamazaki.
As the video has revealed, the film is slated to be released in Summer 2017, though we still haven’t seen Yamazaki in costume as Jousuke just yet. The third Jojo, Jotaro Kujo, is being played by live-action Rurouni Kenshin’s Yusuke Iseya.
The film will be directed by Takashi Miike (Crows Zero, Live-action Terraformars) and will be a co-production between Warner Brothers and TOHO. It aims to cover the entire fourth part, which follows the adventures of Jousuke, with Jotaro acting as his mentor. Because Part 4 is actually quite long, TBS producer Takashi Hirano has said that they are looking into making sequels for the film to fit the entire story of part 4.
Filming will be done in the Spanish town of Sitges, though they did admit that they already knew that the original manga was set in Japan. They decided to adapt Part 4 because it featured a Japanese protagonist, therefore eliminating the “Racelift” allegations.
