Ikebukuro in Tokyo, Japan is highly recognized as one of important anime pilgrimage sites in the country because not only is it home to the famous “Otome Road”, where female anime fans and fujoshis usually gather, but it is also the setting for several anime series like Durarara!!. Last April 29, 2014, Ikebukuro held to simultaneous events which showcased the very best of Japan’s cosplay subculture and they are Acosta! and the Cure Cosplay Parade and Animate.tv has compiled several great images from both events.
Acosta! is an event by cosplay prop makers ACOS. Held in Sunshine Ikebukuro, the event aims to show people the charms of cosplay and that in can be enjoyed as both an indoor and an outdoor activity. The event provided several backgrounds and props for cosplayers, as well as other cosplay merchandise. Cosplayers and photographers can enjoy shoots with many of the events’ backgrounds which feature a range of styles from the plain white background to the usual school setting to even a bathroom.
Meanwhile, outside, cosplayers from all over Japan have gathered for the Cure Cosplay Parade which was organized by Animate.
Animate also compiled cosplay photos of several of the cosplayers in the Acosta! event.
