The company that owns Dengeki and Famitsu is going to merge with the company that owns Nico Nico Douga.

Kadokawa Corporation and Dwango have announced that they will and become Kadokawa Dwango on October 1.

For those who aren’t familiar with the companies, Kadokawa Corporation’s subsidiaries deal in publishing, film, and mixed media projects. In particular, they publish practically all of the most popular light novels and also adapt them into anime and games. Do you know Sword Art Online, OreImo, and the Toaru series? It’s owned by ASCII Media Works, who is owned by Kadokawa. What about Famitsu, the famous line of gaming magazines? That’s published by Enterbrain, who is owned by Kadokawa.

Kadokawa’s consultant Tatsuo Satou will take the seat as president of Kadokawa Dwango, while Dwango’s current chairman and founder, Nobuo Kawakami, will be the chairman of the new company.

Now that these two giants have joined forces, what do you think we will see in the future? A Nico Nico version of the Dengeki Novel Awards?
