The 6th AKB48 Senbatsu General Elections is almost upon us and the girls from the super idol group as well as from their sister groups SKE48, NMB48 and HKT48 have been quite busy promoting themselves and campaigning for the General Election. SKE48′s Rena Matsui is absolutely no exception.
With the popularity of the anime Kill la Kill, the 22-year old idol chose to appeal to the fans by cosplaying the anime’s main character, Ryuko Matoi.
Fans have mixed reactions to her cosplay with some saying that they are very happy seeing her cosplay Ryuko while some weren’t very impressed. Some were even saying they want to see her cosplay in Senketsu’s more revealing Kamui mode instead.
Rena Matsui ain’t the the only SKE48 idol to use anime for their campaign as Airi Furukawa turns herself into a titan and attacks the walls.
Looks like Attack on Titan is going head-to-head with Kill la Kill in the elections and it is gonna be interesting. With Attack on Titan’s juggernaut-like success last year, it’s no surprise that a candidate like Airi Furukawa would use the series as the theme for her campaign. It is actually a pretty smart choice as Airi has also been seen cosplaying Madoka Magica’s Mami Tomoe.
