Japanese anime expert Ryou Koarai is known for watching over a hundred anime episodes per week (including reruns) and is now one of Japan’s leading experts in anime, and that is saying a lot! She is known for looking at anime from a sociological standpoint and has shared her views on anime through various online streams such as Niconico. She has recently chosen her two best anime which gave the strongest impressions along with her Top 3 most fascinating anime and a special mention.
She first discussed the Top 2 anime which gave her the strongest impressions, and they are Gundam Reconguista in G and Parasyte. Ryou has followed the Gundam franchise as a girl and said that this does not feel like your typical Tomino anime and said that it is “revolutionary” in some sorts and challenges the concept of what a Gundam anime is. Reconguista in G has already divided fans on whether it is good or not and Ryou seems to side with the ones praising the series.
She then talked about Parasyte, another “Revolutionary” anime which left her some pretty big impressions like Gundam Reconguista in G. She said that the anime feels very modern and contains some very original elements. She also said that the anime is pretty “Philosophical” as it tackles the “universality” of the course of human history.
She then discussed the Top 3 most fascinating anime for Fall 2014. Taking the #1 spot is Fate/ Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works which had excellent pacing from episode 0 until the latest one.
#2 goes to Shirobako which gives fans an insight on how hard it really is to make an anime. She recommends it to all anime lovers and says that its plot is quite “irresistible”.
#3 goes to Amagi Brilliant Park which according to Ryo contains a good balance between “reality and fantasy”.
Finally, she added one “special mention” and it is Ai Tenchi Muyo which she found very surprising with all the new characters and comedic scenes.
Do you guys agree with her picks?
