Machi ★ Asobi Vol.13 may now be officially over in Tokushima, Japan, but the event has generated plenty of activities in the two days it was held and Japanese gaming website, Dengeki Online, was present during all the festivities which included the announcement of the winners of the Newtype Awards and the launch of the Fate/ Stay Night: Unlimited Bladeworks taxis.
Machi Asobi was supposed to have been held for three days, from October 11 – 13, however, since most of the activities were held outdoors and there was a strong typhoon approaching Japan, the third and final day was cancelled for safety reasons. Some of the scheduled activities on the last day (Oct. 13), were rescheduled. However, that did not stop the event from becoming a huge success.
Legions of anime fans poured in from all over Japan to participate in the bi-annual event despite the event cut short and the gloomy weather. Some of the event’s activities were held at the Tochin 1-chome Mall which played host to the ufotable theater and several other activities. One of the most popular attractions in the mall is the life-size Vajra replica from God Eater 2.
The event also featured plenty of video game demos, displays, and shops by big gaming companies like Bandai Namco, Arc System Works, and many others.
The impending typhoon wasn’t also enough to deter a Machi Asobi tradition – The itasha show, where itasha enthusiasts and owners gathered in Tokushima to celebrate the hobby.
