After turning the anime high school romantic comedy genre upside down last Spring 2013, Good’ ol Hachiman is back for another bitter-bitter-sweet season of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU or Oregairu with fellow service club members Yukino and Yui as they tackle everyday high school life.
Gagaga Bunko, which publishes the light novels, has announced in its official website that the second season, titled Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru. Zoku or My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong as I Expected. Sequel, will once again be aired in spring as it will premiere April 2015. The light novel publisher’s official website also announced that Kei Oikawa will be at the helm of this new season as the new director, replacing Ai Yoshimura. Oikawa is best known for directing Outbreak Company and Minami-Ke.
The anime made a lot of waves last year as it became considered one of 2013’s best anime, and that is saying a lot as it was aired in the very same year as heavy hitters like Attack on Titan, The Devil is a Part-timer, and Attack on Titan. The anime is known to be the anti-thesis of anime romcoms as it presents a more realistic take on high school life. If Madoka Magica is to magical girl anime and Neon Genesis Evangelion is to mecha anime, then Oregairu is to high school romantic comedy anime.
