1) Barakamon
Based on viewer satisfaction, Barakamon becomes the Summer 2014 season’s most highly-rated anime as it gets an average 71.0% AA rating in Niconico’s viewer rating survey. The anime has been quite relaxing and refreshing to watch and is not your average slice of life show and that may be why it takes the top spot. The anime has beaten out several big names in the Niconico rankings including this season’s most highly-hyped anime, Sword Art Online II which only took 13th place and only had a 23.7% AA rating. I guess people are still divided on SAO.
High School Comedy anime Monthly Shoujo Nozaki-kun meanwhile takes the unsurprising #2 spot as it continues to be one of the most highly-rated anime of Summer 2014 with a 60.6% AA rating, beating out fellow favorite Akame Ga Kill with its hilarious parody of shoujo anime characters. Akame Ga Kill meanwhile may not have received the high AA rating of the other two, however, it has made up for it with its great action sequences and interesting characters.
Another surprising entrant is #4 ranked Locodol which takes on the world of local small town idols and their mascots. The anime is quite relaxing with a very laid back story just like Barakamon and proves that idol anime are now on the rise.
What do you think of the Niconico rankings? Do you agree with their viewers?
