The official twitter account of Chibi Neko Tom no Dai Bōken anime has tweeted that the anime’s director, Ryutaro Nakamura has now passed away. He was 58 years old.
According to the tweet, the anime director passed away last June 29 after being hospitalized due to his long battle with pancreatic cancer. The announcement was finally made after permission was given by his family. (For more anime news here on SGCafe, click here)
Ryutaro Nakamura is the director of the classic anime series, Sakura Wars and Serial Experiments Lain. He was also the director for Chibi Neko Tom no Dai Bōken, Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World, Rec and Ghost Hound. He also did some key animation for several episodes of Love Hina as well as did the storyboard for episode 5 of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex.
Though the director may have passed on, his work most certainly lives on in the hearts of anime fans everywhere. He will be missed.
