Just like what they did for other anime movies such as HAL, Yahoo! Japan has posted a clip for the highly anticipated 3D summer blockbuster movie, Space Pirate Captain Harlock. (For more anime here on SGCafe, click here)
The 12-minute clip recreates the bar scene from the 2002 OAV, Space Pirate Captain Harlock: The Endless Odyssey. Though it has no subtitles provided, the clip shows some beautiful and breath taking CG imagery that you will expect from the full movie itself. Click here to watch the clip.
The movie is currently the most expensive movie Toei Animation has done thus far with a budget exceeding 30 million US dollars. The CG adaptation of Leiji Matsumoto’s 1977 science fiction manga is directed by ‘Appleseed‘ director Shinji Aramaki and is written by Harutoshi Fukui, the writer of ‘Mobile Suit Gundam UC‘ and stars Oguri Shun as the voice of the beloved space pirate himself, Captain Harlock.
Other Japanese actors like Yuu Aoi, Miyuki Sawashiro, Ayano Fukuda, Chikao Ohtsuka, Toshiyuki Morikawa, Arata Furuta, Maaya Sakamoto, Kiyoshi Kobayashi, and Haruma Miura also lend their voices for the anime classic’s CG remake. The movie will hit Japanese theaters on September 7.
