When Final Fantasy XIV online was released back in 2010, the response from fans was underwhelming.
Now, the new-look Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn which promises to be different from the previous Final Fantasy XIV has revealed some NPC designs as well as the Japanese voice actors voicing them. Each NPC is closely tied to the game’s main story line, and will help you as you play through the game. (For more Final Fantasy here on SGCafe, click here)
Scions of the Seventh Dawn:
The calm and gentle-eyed Minifilia will be voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro. Sawashiro has voiced video game characters like Cammi from Street Fighter IV and is known for voicing anime characters like the titular Beelzebub from Beelzebub, Ultear from Fairy Tail and Kurapika from Hunter X Hunter (2011).
The charming self-professed bard who wanders the wilds of Thanalan, Thancred will be voiced by Yuichi Nakamura. Nakamura has voiced video game characters like Hazama from Blazblue as weill as anime characters like Grey Fullbuster from Fairy Tail and Alto Saotome from Macross Frontier.
The care-free yet skilled pugilist Yda will be voiced by Aya Endo. Endo has provided the voices of Macross Frontier‘s Sheryl Nome and Queen’s Blade Rebellion‘s Annalotte.
Eri Kitamura meanwhile voices the cynical Lalafellin skilled in thaumaturgy named Papalymo who is often seen with Yda. Kitamura is known for voicing Street Fighter IV‘s Juri Han as well as anime characters like the Monogatari series‘ Karen Araragi and Madoka Magica’s Sayaka Miki.
The beautiful yet enigmatic Miqo’te named Y’shtola will be voiced by Ai Kayano. Kayano has voiced anime characters like Menma Honma from AnoHana, Guilty Crown‘s Inori Yuzuriha and Servant X Service‘s Lucy Yagami.
The missing wise old leader of the Circle of Knowing, Loisoix will be voiced by Motomu Kiyowa. Kiyowa has voiced Blazblue: Calamity Trigger‘s Valkenhayn R. Hellsing and Hellsing anime’s Walter.
The cryptic Elezen sage Urianger will be voiced by Kenn. The voice actor has voiced Alpha Patroklos from Soul Calibur V as well as anime characters like Katekyo Hitman Reborn!’s Dino.
Alphinaud & Alisaie are the mysterious fraternal twins with an unknown agenda. Alphinaud will be voiced by Shinnosuke Tachibana who has voiced Toru Nanamine from Bakuman, His twin sister, Alisaie will be voiced by Rie Murakawa who has voiced Aoi Futaba from Vividred Operation as well as Atelier Escha & Logy‘s Escha.
Garlond Iron Works
As it is traditional for Final Fantasy games to have a character named CID since FFII, we give you the brilliant magitek engineer named… well… Cid! Cid Nan Garlond will be voiced by Rikiya Koyama who has voiced video game characters like Basch from Final Fantasy XII, Duke from Tales of Vesperia and anime characters like the Fate series’ Kiritsugu Emiya and Naruto‘s Capt. Yamato.
The long awaited MMORPG will be released for the PC and PlayStation 3 this August 27. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will also be released for the upcoming PlayStation 4 next year, 2014.
