Remember back in 2009 when a Chinese theme park made that orange Gundam statue? Well, forget about that one because China is now getting an official one, and it won’t be alone.
Yes, Char’s Zaku II is coming along as well. These 7 meter, 1/3 scale models may not be as big as “Sichuan Gundam” or the 1/1 Odaiba Gundam but they will certainly draw a lot of people in. (more on Gundam here at SGCafe through this link)
The statues will be part of the event called “Gundam Docks in Hong Kong”. The event will take place at the Times Square Shopping Center which is located in Causeway Bay from July 25 until September 1. The event will also feature several cosplayers cosplaying as Amuro Ray, Char Aznable and other beloved Gundam characters. A 1.2 meter green MS-06 Zaku II model is also scheduled to make an appearance during the event.
The Gundam parts were delivered to the Times Square shopping Center via truck (With Earth Federation markings I might add) to the delight of onlookers.
I have visited Hong Kong earlier this year and I must say that the people there LOVE Gundam. The ones I have spoken to over there can’t stop talking about the series and from the ones I have met personally, most of them were UC (Universal Century) fans so for them, this is surely an event they cannot wait for.
