After being delayed several years, Time of Eve’s Yasuhiro Yoshiura has finally set a release date for his next big project.
Although initially announced on Christmas Eve 2011 for a 2012 release date, Patema Inverted (Sakasama no Patema [サカサマのパテマ]) has been delayed until “sometime in 2013″. This week, a specific premier date for the movie has finally been announced. The latest film from the Time of Eve creator will be hitting Japan on November 9, only in selected theaters.

To help prepare for his first outdoor story, a short series acting as a prequel to the movie, entitled Patema Inverted- Beginning of the Day, streamed online last summer on Nico Nico Douga.
Made up of four mini-episodes, similar to the original run of Time of Eve, it tells the story of the first four days before the movie. The new movie’s story tells the tale of Patema after she has ascended above ground and meets Age, who attends a government run school. The final episode of the prequel ends reminding him that that those who ascend to the sky are sinners.
The film was previously previewed in June at the Annecy Animation Festival in France, though it was screened outside of competition so it received no awards. It was well received, though, and with the new key visual on its promotional poster, the movie promises to continue to turn heads.
The promotional video for the film is below, and summarizes the past events from the four mini-episodes.
