After its overwhelming success in Japan, the third Madoka Magica movie titled Madoka Magica: The Rebellion Story finally makes its long awaited Hollywood premiere and fans have come out in droves just to watch the movie.
The premiere was held in the historic Grauman’s Egyptian theater which once has hosted the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Al Pacino and more.
The movie premiered last December 3, 2013 and six hours before the movie even made its 7:00 pm premiere, fans have formed a long line outside the ticket booth. All 600 tickets for the premiere were sold out immediately along with the items which were being sold at the merchandise store.
The prestigious red carpet was also rolled out as several of the movie’s staff came to watch the Hollywood premiere. Shaft’s Mitsutoshi Kubota and Madoka Magica producer Atsuhiro Iwakami were both in attendance along with the movie’s English-dun voice actors. Japanese-American actor Masi Oka, better known as Hiro Nakamura from the hit TV series Heroes was also in attendance.
Before the movie, the Japanese cast greeted the audience and were given much applause. After the movie, fans got to ask Kubota and Iwakami several questions regarding the movie, one of the questions was regarding the Academy Awards. Iwakami answered it will be an honor to be nominated.
Madoka Magica: The Rebellion Story will premiere in 45 movie theaters across the US and 35 theaters across Canada starting today, December 6, 2013. The film is also expected to hit theaters in Hong Kong, France, Taiwan and South Korea as well as Mexico, Australia and New Zealand.
