Hatsune Miku jumps across dimensions in an exhibit by the Meiji University

Hatsune Miku may have started out as a voice with a single image but the virtual diva is now one of Japan’s most highly recognized pop culture icons and that very icon will get her own exhibition inside the Yoshihiro Yonezawa Memorial Library in Tokyo’s Meiji University.

The exhibition will be titled “Jumping Across Dimensions, the Passion of  Making Hatsune Miku Materialize” and will feature the virtual angel in many physical forms, shapes and sizes from her many PVC figures, figmas and nendoroids to her many CD’s, books and other Miku merchandise.

Since Miku is a wonder of technology, various devices will be used to bring her to life during the exhibition. 3D printers, AMID/POLID screens and the Oculus Rift will all be providing fans a unique way to interact with the angelic virtual diva.

The exhibition will also feature Hatsune Miku cosplayers, a Miku cosplay slide show and talk shows dedicated to Miku.

The Meiji University is also looking for avid Miku fans who can present and display their “Miku altars” for the exhibition. Fans can also submit their own fan-made Miku works from home-made cosplay costumes to garage kits. Fans wanting to submit their creations and altars however must follow the Piapro guidelines as posted in this link: http://piapro.jp/license/character_guideline

Miku cosplayers can also submit their own cosplay photos but must also follow the piapro guidlines. The applications for the altars, the fan-made Miku works and the cosplay slide show photos can be submitted via e-mail to yonezawa_miku@googlegroups.com

The exhibition will be held from from January 31, 2014 to June 1, 2014.
