Rapit Express has launched its Neo Zeon-themed train last Saturday, April 26, 2014 and the official Gundam website, Gundam.info took a look at all the happenings during the train’s launch.
This is part of the latest collaboration between the Nankai Electric Railway Company, which runs the Rapit Express trains, and the upcoming anime movie, Mobile Suit Gundam UC Episode 7: Over The Rainbow. The collaboration will have the Rapit Express Neo Zeon train transport passengers from Namba Station and Osaka International Airport for a limited-time only special run.
The opening ceremony featured a few guests which clearly stood out from the crowd. The first guest was legendary Japanese voice actor Shuichi Ikeda who not only voices Full Frontal in the movie but has also voiced the real Red Comet himself, Char Aznable. Ikeda presented the gigantic 1/144 scale HGUC Neo Zeong GunPla, which towers over its HGUC Gundam Unicorn counterpart, to the crowd which marveled at its size.
After the unveiling of the gigantic GunPla, a Full Frontal cosplayer appeared and stood next to the legendary voice actor.
Finally, the Rapit Express Neo Zeon train arrives to the delight of the crowd. Many even took pictures of the train as they eagerly awaited for it to stop.
Ikeda then posed for a photo op with the Rapit Express officials and the Rapit Express Neo Zeon train, along with Full Frontal
This collaboration is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Rapit Express and will run for a limited time from April 26, 2014 until June 30, 2014. This is also to promote the upcoming Gundam UC episode 7: Over the Rainbow which will be hitting Japanese theaters for a limited release on May 17, 2014 before its home video release on June 6, 2014.
