The mountain town of Hakone in Kanagawa prefecture is known as the location of the post-apocalyptic Japanese capital of Tokyo-3 in the classic mecha anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion. Now, you can travel to that very mountain town once again, Eva style, thanks to the Odakyu Hakone Bus Company as they will be reviving their famous Evangelion bus.
This Evangelion Bus Unit 02 will be the second bus to feature the series as Odakyu Hakone adopted the first Eva Bus back in 2012. The back side of the bus features Rei and Asuka in traditional Japanese yukatas along with Evangelion unit 02. The right side of the bus features Asuka and Unit 02 once again, but this time, Asuka is in her plug suit. The left side meanwhile features Kaworu, Rei, Shinji, Asuka and Mari in yukatas with Mount Fuji in the background. Hakone is a well-known hot springs town so featuring the Eva characters in yukatas is definitely a must. The bus’s interior also sports an Eva theme.
Maya Ibuki’s voice actress, Miki Nagasawa lends her voice to announce the bus’s stops. The bus’s service begins today, April 28, 2014 and will travel along both the Hakone line and the Haneda line.
