It’s the second Sunday of May and that means the world is celebrating a special day just for moms and to celebrate Mother’s Day, we here over at SGCafe have taken our picks for the five most endearing anime moms out there. These moms are caring, loving and always show how we should never mess with them, that’s why they are on our list.
Please take note that these great moms are not ranked because how can you measure a mother’s love? But we just had to pick five of them and here they are:
Kushina Uzumaki (Naruto)
This “Red Hot Habanero” made the ultimate sacrifice any mother can do for her son and that is sacrifice her own life in order to save not only Naruto, but also the village of Konohagakure. She was the Kyuubi’s Jinchuriki before Naruto and she has proven to be a very competent ninja when it comes to sealing techniques. She may seem to be quite violent at first, but deep inside, she is a very loving mother which Naruto can be very proud of. Believe It!
Sanae Furukawa (Clannad)
Sanae may seem wierd and childish at first, but as a mother and as a business owner, she is very dependable often showing a strong determination to get things done. She is Nagisa’s mother and it was revealed that she used to be a middle school teacher before changing jobs to take care of daughter who has very poor health. Her dedication as a mother is something to be praised as she has remained strong even with Nagisa’s deteriorating condition.
Rinko Iori (Gundam Build Fighters)
Many Gundam fans were not sure if they should follow Gundam Build Fighters because many consider it as one big Bandai advertisement for GunPla, however, they instantly got hooked into watching the series because of one character, Sei’s mom, Iori. She may be the reason why many Gundam fans weren’t able to drop the series in the first place and her popularity has trumped the two main girls Aila and China. As a mom, she is very supportive of her son, even closing her hobby shop temporarily to cheer for Sei. She has been involved in many fan service scenes and it is clear that this fan favorite may be one of the hottest moms in all of anime. Go Sei!
Milia Fallyna Jenius (Macross)
This Zentradi ace pilot became the first from their species to marry an earthling and have a half-human, half-Zentradi child. Though she was born from a war-like race which valued war above all else, she has shown great conviction in being a mother of eight children, including Macross 7 main character Mylene. When she became mayor of city 7, she still cared for her Mylene even if she was busy running an entire city.
Irisviel Von Einzbern (Fate Series)
Irisviel is the wife of Kiritsugu Emiya and mother of Ilya in Fate/Zero and adoptive mother of Shiro in Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Ilya. Even though she was created as the vessel for the Holy Grail and thus destined to die at the end of Fate/Zero, she wanted her child to grow up happily and worked very hard so that her daughter will not share her fate. We also see a very different side to her in Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Ilya where she is seen as a very energetic woman who cares for Ilya and Shiro.
