"A Silent Voice" anime adaptation in development

koe no katachi anime

A Silent Voice, the award-winning manga by Yoshitoki Ōima, is getting an anime adaptation. The final chapter which goes out this Wednesday reveals that the anime adaptation is in its planning stages.

The story follows a hearing impaired girl named Shōko Nishimiya and a class bully Shoya Ishida. At first, the whole class was bullying Shoko but after a turn of events, Shoya became the one who was bullied. Years have passed and Shoya feels the need to meet the Shoko once again.

A Silent Voice received the “Best Rookie Manga” award in 2008 but was only published three years later due to its sensitive subject matter. It then began its serialisation in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine last year.
