In January 2006, the anime adaptation for Type Moon’s popular adult visual novel (eroge) Fate/ Stay Night premiered and became one of the most popular anime series of all time. It spawned many spin-offs, mangas, light novels, figures, merchandise, video games and of course, let’s not forget about Fate/ Zero and the currently airing Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya.
The anime about mages and their summoned servants trying to kill one another for the Holy Grail was indeed very popular and the visual novel is also one of the highest selling visual novels of all time. Now, anime studio ufotable is having a new Fate/ Stay Night project as announced by the studio’s founder Hikaru Kondo via twitter. (For more stories about the Fate series here on SGCafe, click here, also, for more Type Moon, click here)
Kondo however only announced the new project and did not elaborate much on the matter. It is still not clear whether this new Fate project will be a new anime series, a remake, a movie, an OVA or something else entirely.
The 2006 anime as well as the 2010 movie Fate Unlimited Blade Works were produced by Studio DEEN while the prequel Fate/ Zero was produced by ufotable and the magical girl spin-off Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya is produced by Silver Link.
