An anime adaptation has been announced for AntiMagic Academy “The 35th Test Platoon”, a fantasy action light novel series where guns clash against magic.
Written by Yanagimi with illustrations by Kippu (illustrator of Nourin), the story takes place in a world where the practice of magic is going extinct, about to replaced by the use of guns. In order to hunt down the last magic users, the Inquisitors of Heretics have established the AntiMagic Academy. The main character, Takeru Kusanagi, is a student who can fight with only a sword, and so he commands the 35th platoon, a hodgepodge of misfits also named the “small fry platoon”, until they are joined by the beautiful, highly elite pistol fighter Ouka Ootori.
The light novel series currently has seven volumes as well as a manga adaptation. No details on the anime’s staff or cast have been announced yet, but fans of magic and guns should keep an eye on this upcoming anime.
Takeru: “I won’t lose to anyone! Whether it’s guns or magic, I’ll kill them!”
Ouka: “If you want to join, do it by yourselves. I’ll be fine by myself.”
Usagi: “… I told you not to call me by my name.”
Ikaruga: “No, I was planning to embrace my weakness.”
