Lupin III is getting his own live action movie and now, new character visuals have officially been released and it shows the five main characters in costume, including actor Shun Oguri wearing Lupin’s signature read jacket while packing some heat with his signature Walter P38 pistol.
The new live action character designs really look like they stayed loyal to the designs from the original manga series by Monkey Punch. The manga author was even surprised when he saw the results of the photo shoot in which he commented that “It looks good and this will be a great movie”.
Meisa Kuroki will play Fujiko Mine, Tetsuji Tamayama meanwhile will be playing the role of Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa meanwhile will be played by Gou Ayano and Detective Kouichi Zenigata will be played by Thor’s Tadanobu Asano.
Oguri has admitted that he has lost 8Kg just to play the classic manga and anime character. He said that he wanted to attain the “Lupin III figure” which is loyal to the mangas.
Meisa Kuroki meanwhile has said that she has also worked hard to attain Fujiko Mine’s speed in combat while still retaining her beauty.
The movie will be an origin story focusing on the first encounter between the five main characters. The Lupin III live action movie will premiere on August 31, 2014 in Japan.
