Gust has released new info on their newest Atelier game, including new characters and some beautiful screenshots.
Atelier Shallie takes place some time after Atelier Escha & Logy and follows the story of two young alchemists named Shallistera and Shallote.
One of the characters who will join you is Kortes (voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, who plays Kirito from Sword Art Online), Shallistera’s childhood friend and older brother figure. As a bodyguard of the Ark, he has trained in martial arts and serves as Shallistera’s guardian in her journey. He has spent time living in the modern city of Stellard, which has led to doubts about their hometown, which is bound to ancient traditions.
Nady Elminus (voiced by Aya Hisakawa, who played Ami Mizuno from Sailor Moon) is Shallote’s mother. Once a worker in Stellard, she married a man from another town and left her job to give birth to Shallote. The husband died shortly after that, and Nady has raised Shallote by herself since then. As her daughter begins her quest to earn money, Nady uses her former connections to find jobs for her. However, she isn’t familiar with alchemy, so she finds jobs that are impossible.
Teokhuga is a shipwright and the manager of the Ark. He has looked after Shallistera since she was a small child, and so he is practically a blood relative.
One of the new features in this game is the Life Task system, which works like a streamlined quest system. As you play, the heroine will think of various objectives such as “I should make medicine” or “I should look for different ingredients”. As you fulfill the objectives, you’ll think of even more tasks, and your harvesting abilities will also improve, allowing you to find more harvesting points and items.
One of the additions to the field sections is the field event gauge. When you fill the gauge, you will be able to find more ingredients or a rare item box.
At certain points, you will also find landmarks that you can teleport to when you enter the area.
As in all Atelier games, there will be different methods of collecting materials. Both Shallistera and Shallote can mine for rare minerals. Shallote is also able to find items by sweeping and fishing. She can also create different bait to catch different fish.
Shallistera can’t sweep or fish, but she has a dowsing ability, which has a more mystical vibe.
Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Ocean will be released for the PS3 on June 26. In the meantime, you can watch the Atelier Escha & Logy anime airing right now.
