Sword Art Online author Reki Kawahara has recently announced via his twitter account that the next issue of Dengeki Bunko Magazine will be revealing new character designs for the upcoming second season of Sword Art Online. He also revealed that Kino’s Journey author Keiichi Sigsawa will be helping out in the anime’s firearms supervision.
The renowned author also thanked his colleague who ensured the accuracy of the Hecate II’s anime portrayal. The PGM Ultima Ratio Hecate II of course is the gun used by new character Sinon in the Gun Gale Online VRMMORPG.
Keiichi Sigsawa also said that he was happy to have helped and said he is glad that Gun Gale Online can now be animated. The author is a well known “gun maniac” with his pen name being derived from fire arm manufacturer SIG Sauer.
Meanwhile, new magazine scans from Dengeki Bunko have finally revealed the new character designs the two authors were tweeting about. They show designs for Kirito and Asuna wearing civilian clothes as well as Sinon. The scope for her PGM Ultima Ratio Hecate II, which Sigsawa supervised was also revealed in the scans.
The second season will adapt the “Sword Art Online: Phantom Bullet” light novels which covers the GGO Arc where Kirito must stop a serial killer named “Death Gun” who is killing off players in the MMO shooter, Gun Gale Online. It will premiere this July 2014 as part of the Summer anime season
