Last year, Sega created the Sega Hard Girls franchise, which turned the company’s past game consoles into cute girls with character designs by KEI. It seemed to have gained a following, because Sega has announced an anime adaptation.
Sega Hard Girls first started as a collaboration with Dengeki Bunko to celebrate the publisher’s 20th anniversary. Courtesy of KEI, the character designer of Hatsune Miku, 17 of Sega’s past game consoles and hardware were turned into girls. including the SG-1000, Megadrive (aka Genesis), Dreamcast, and other consoles that should make Sega fans weep with nostalgia.
Last year, Sega Hard Girls spawned the novel “The Common Happenings of the Sega Goddesses Who Came to Modern Japan”, written by Toori Shiwasu, which turned the Sega girls into powerful goddesses who move into the home of a regular boy. Sort of like a twist on Hyperdimension Neptunia.
Currently, there are no details on the anime or whether it will follow the novel, but if you want to check out the 17 Sega hardware girls, you can visit the official website now.
