Kodansha‘s Weekly Shounen Magazine has just announced that their popular shounen manga The Seven Deadly Sins will finally be getting a well-deserved anime adaptation.
The manga is written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki and follows a certain group of knights known as the Seven Deadly Sins who were framed by the Holy Knights and were accused of plotting to overthrow the monarchy. Elizabeth, third princess of the Kingdom of Lyonesse finds out the truth and is now on the run from the Holy Knights as she seeks the aid of the Seven Deadly Sins. The manga series should not be confused with Hobby Japan’s Seven Deadly Sins figure line.
The manga has been constantly found in the Oricon charts and with its six released volumes have already sold more than 2.1 million copies. The manga also has several accolades. The 2014 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! named the manga the 5th best shounen manga for 2013.
The manga had a famous cross-over with Weekly Shounen Magazine’s most popular series, Fairy Tail where characters Meliodas, Elizabeth and Hawk enter Magnolia where they meet Natsu, Lucy and the rest of the wacky guild. Action and hilarity ensues.
More details on the manga’s anime adaptation will be announced in the future.
