Fans were given an early summer treat as more than 300 itashas or anime-themed cars were displayed during the 8th Ashikaga Itasha Festival which was held near a dry riverbed in Ashikaga, Tochigi Prefecture.
Most of the itashas were even accompanied with their own cosplayers, much to the delight of the crowd. Here is one featuring Love Live’s Eli Ayase, complete with its own Eli cosplayer.
Meanwhile, fellow μ’s member Maki also had her own itasha which also came with a Maki cosplayer.
Well, Maki is quite popular indeed…
Well, it wasn’t just Maki who was popular during the event as an entire row was dedicated to Love Live! alone. Love Livers are certainly one of the most dedicated anime fans on Earth.
Here’s a motorbike dedicated to the “alien girl”, Erio Toowa, also complete with her own cosplayer
And here’s a Racing Miku van with a Racing Miku cosplayer
Miku ain’t the only diva in the event as a Macross Frontier itasha came with a Sheryl Nome cosplayer
Cars weren’t the only stars of the event
This truck is ready to support Oarai as it featured a Girls und Panzer theme
While Kobato Hasegawa from Haganai was proudly represented with this itasha and cosplay combination
Meanwhile, here are other images from the event
